A full day in the wildest stretch of the coast: the Jeribucaçu trail, the Arruda pools at low tide, and a waterfall bath on the way back.
Atualizado em outubro de 2026
This is the walk for those who came to Itacaré through the forest. The morning starts with the descent to Jeribucaçu, where river and sea meet on the sand; it continues along the coast to a beach almost no one knows; and ends beneath a waterfall, washing off the salt.
Jeribucaçu
Praia de Jeribucaçu requires 25 to 30 minutes of steep hiking and rewards you with one of Bahia's most beautiful landscapes, complete with a freshwater pool at the river mouth.
Arruda
Fifteen minutes of walking to the left, Praia da Arruda is small and little explored, with natural pools among the coral at low tide.
Cachoeira da Usina
On the way back, Cachoeira da Usina closes out the day. It's the Usina de Jeribucaçu, on the coast, not the one at Taboquinhas, which is on the Rio de Contas.
For whom
For those who can handle a trail and want to spend the day away from amenities. Bring water, snacks, and closed-toe shoes; check the tide tables to catch Arruda at low tide. Itacaré's tour agencies sell the complete itinerary, with transport and guide.
