The classic outing off the Serra Grande road: four beaches linked by a forest trail, 12 km from the town center, ending at the long stretch of sand at Itacarezinho.

You leave the car on the side of the BA-001, and within two minutes the noise of the road is gone. The trail winds down through damp forest, crosses a stream, and the first beach appears from above, framed by trees. From there the way follows sand and rocks, from cove to cove, until the last bend opens onto the three and a half kilometers of Itacarezinho.

Engenhoca, the first descent

Praia da Engenhoca is a surf beach, with steady waves and a sandy bottom. It is the busiest of the four and the only one with a guaranteed beach shack in high season.

Havaizinho and the tide pools

Over the rocks, ten minutes on, you reach Praia do Havaizinho: a small cove where low tide leaves natural pools of clear water.

Camboinha, almost deserted

Praia da Camboinha is the smallest and the emptiest. The passage is over the rocks and should only be made at low tide.

Itacarezinho, the end of the line

The trail ends at Praia de Itacarezinho, the longest beach in the area, where a small waterfall drops from the forest straight onto the sand. Tour agencies often combine the outing with Cachoeira do Tijuípe, a few kilometers away.

Who it's for

For those who enjoy walking and want to see the dense-forest side of Itacaré's coast. It is not an outing for strollers or for anyone who has trouble on rocks. There is no cell signal for most of the route: go with a guide or an agency if you don't know the area.
