How Much a Trip to Itacaré Costs: Three Budgets, from Hostel to Resort
Lodging, food, transport and tours with October 2026 prices, plus three daily budgets: budget, mid-range and comfortable.
Itacaré fits many wallets, and that is what sets it apart from other destinations on the Bahia coast: the same beach welcomes the traveler who sleeps in a hostel for R$ 40 a bed and the one who pays R$ 3,000 a night at a resort. What changes is the bed, the table and the way you reach the beaches at the end of a trail. Below are three budgets per person per day, not including airfare, with prices researched in October 2026 and the date of each reference.
Where the money goes
Lodging is the biggest expense and the most elastic. In October 2026, a dorm bed ran from R$ 35 to R$ 90; a simple pousada, from R$ 95 to R$ 260 for a couple; a mid-range pousada with breakfast, around R$ 360, between R$ 245 and R$ 430; a boutique or four-star one, from R$ 435 to R$ 1,100; flats, from R$ 170 to R$ 450 a unit. Resorts are another level: Ecoporan between R$ 360 and R$ 515, Txai and Barracuda above R$ 2,900. April is the cheapest month of the year, and June and July the most expensive on booking platforms.
Food runs from R$ 50 to R$ 120 per person per day, depending on your style. A prato feito costs R$ 25 to R$ 40. Moqueca for two goes from R$ 140 at a beach shack to R$ 200 at a restaurant. Dinner in Pituba, R$ 60 to R$ 120 per person. A long neck beer, R$ 12 to R$ 18; a cocktail, R$ 25 to R$ 45.
Transport weighs on arrival: a transfer from Ilhéus costs R$ 180 to R$ 220 per car, or R$ 115 per person in a shared van; the Rota bus, R$ 30. A rental car in Ilhéus, R$ 97 to R$ 110 a day for an economy model. In the village, everything is on foot. For the beaches along the road, take a fixed-price taxi or go with an agency.
Tours with an agency almost all cost the same in 2026: R$ 170 per person for the four-beach trail with Tijuípe, Jeribucaçu with the Usina, or the Rio de Contas with Cleandro; R$ 230 for rafting; R$ 300 for the round trip to Taipu de Fora; R$ 225 for the cacao farm. The town beaches are free.
Three budgets, per person per day
- Budget, about R$ 150: a bed in a hostel or a shared simple pousada (R$ 50), prato feito, tapioca and coffee (R$ 60), bus and beaches on foot (R$ 10), one agency tour spread over the week (R$ 30)
- Mid-range, about R$ 330: a pousada with breakfast shared by two (R$ 180), lunch and moqueca for two at dinner (R$ 100), a shared transfer and one taxi (R$ 20), one R$ 170 tour during the week (R$ 35)
- Comfortable, R$ 700 to R$ 750: a boutique pousada for two (R$ 450), dinner in Pituba and lunch on the beach with drinks (R$ 180), a rental car (R$ 60), rafting and Taipu de Fora during the week (R$ 60)
A couple spending five days on the mid-range budget will therefore spend around R$ 3,300 in Itacaré, plus airfare. The round-trip flight from São Paulo to Ilhéus cost from R$ 860 in October 2026, averaging R$ 1,000, with deals at R$ 600 in July and August. Booking about three months ahead is what lowers the price the most.
How to spend less without missing Itacaré
- Low season, from April to June and from August to November: lodging up to 40% cheaper, and the village is still lively.
- The five town beaches, from Concha to Ribeira, are free and reachable on foot. Two of the seven days cost nothing in transport.
- A prato feito at midday and a shared moqueca at night balance the food bill.
- A flat with a kitchen for those staying a week: breakfast and a dinner at home cover the difference.
- One good tour per trip, not one per day. The closer trail beaches, Engenhoca and Havaizinho, can be reached by bus.
