Terra da Gente Films in Itacaré, Spotlighting Birdwatching and Local Food

The crew of Terra da Gente, a program broadcast by EPTV, a Rede Globo affiliate, was in Itacaré to film reports on regenerative tourism, birdwatching and local food. According to the Itacaré Urgente news site, in a piece published on October 27, 2026, this is the first time the program has filmed in southern Bahia.

The itinerary adds up to ten days of filming across four municipalities: Itacaré, Uruçuca, Itabuna and Ilhéus. The common thread is the biodiversity, culture and food of the Costa do Cacau.

What was filmed in Itacaré

In Itacaré, filming focused on Campo Cheiroso, where the crew documented regenerative tourism, birdwatching and wildlife. The activity involved the participation of the Instituto Floresta Viva and the local community.

The schedule also included the table. The itinerary featured Dona Maria's traditional hot chocolate and the kitchen of Café com Cacau, run by chef Marly Katarina.

Sustainable tourism as a theme

Patrícia Veras Soares, the municipal Secretary of Tourism, said the program's presence is a chance to showcase the municipality to other regions of the country. In her words, birdwatching "strengthens sustainable tourism, encourages environmental conservation and values the local economy."

Casa Clareia hosted the crew and took part in leading the birdwatching activities. Leonardo Janicsek, who represents the house, described the production's stay as a time of conversations, encounters and contact with nature.

The series of reports was made possible by a partnership between Eixo4, Sebrae Bahia, Ertour Receptivo, Mar e Selva Ecosocial Tour and Instituto Floresta Viva. In Itacaré, the initiative was supported by the City Hall, through the Municipal Department of Tourism, and by the collaboration of local businesses and groups:
